Edison Ice Storm Recovery Work

Mother nature welcomed in the 2018 New Year on the east coast with a powerful storm appropriately named the “Bomb Cyclone”. States of emergency were declared in the northeast U.S., hundreds of flights were canceled and at least 300,000 homes and businesses lost power.

Standard operating procedure for utility companies is to deploy their pre-approved contractors to help restore power and Edison Power Constructors (EPC) is one of these contractors. EPC assembled and staged an 80 man workforce to assist their customers Excelon and Eversource. The EPC crews focused on distribution pole replacement and/or repair and conductor replacement depending on the extent of damage caused by the ice storm.

EPC crews are well trained and equipped for winter weather emergency situations including downed or damaged power lines from powerful storms. While ice storm recovery work presents difficult environmental conditions like snow, ice and blizzards, EPC crews find it to be very rewarding work to get everyone’s power back on.

EPC, a PLH Group company, specializes in power restoration to areas devastated by ice storms, “Bomb Cyclones”, hurricanes, tornados and fires.
